Trips and visits are an important part of this qualification and will incur an additional cost. Overseas trips are not compulsory, in the past we have travelled to New York, Iceland and China. A range of day trips and visits are planned throughout the year with a minimal cost.

Course Summary

This qualification will focus on the study of the travel and tourism sectors in a number of occupational areas offering breadth and depth of study, incorporating a key core of knowledge, skills and understanding that will provide opportunities to acquire a number of practical and work-related skills.

Course Details

You will complete three mandatory units: The UK travel and tourism industry Customer service in travel and tourism Preparing for a career in travel and tourism You will study a range of topics that are chosen related to the local, national and global skills need within the sector which are selected in conjunction with employers. Example units include, cabin crew, cruise ships, resort representatives, tour operations, travel agency, conference and events, airports, heritage, responsible tourism, business travel, aviation communications and ground operations. This will give you a wide range of knowledge and understanding related to this wide and ever changing sector enabling you to follow many choices of career pathways.

How will it be delivered and assessed?

You will be assessed through assignment, observation and an online portfolio of evidence.

Entry requirements

Minimum five grade 4-9 at GCSE or successful completion of the Level 2 course, and English or maths at grade 4.

Your next steps...

Once you have finished this course, you will have enough UCAS points to progress to university. Degree courses could include travel and tourism, business, hotel management, or marketing.
