Art and Design Level 2 Diploma

This Level 2 diploma will provide you with the opportunity to explore 2D and 3D materials, methods, and processes of many art and design activities. You will also begin to develop your technical skills, acquire knowledge, and build a portfolio of art and design work.

During this exciting and engaging course, you will be encouraged to explore and experiment with a wide range of 2D and 3D art and design methods to harness your creativity and a professional and responsible approach to learning. You'll develop skills in drawing, painting, graphic design, 3D model making, printmaking and digital processes. By the end of the year, you will undertake a Final Major Project where you will be required to devise your own brief and work on a personal pathway that showcases your creative interests, strengths and ability.

Assessment throughout the course will be formative, and we will provide feedback to support and encourage your learning. Only the final unit will be graded. If you successfully complete the first two units, you will receive the Level 2 Award. Completing all nine units will achieve the Level 2 Diploma. The Diploma is a full Level 2 qualification and is broadly equivalent to 4 x GCSE at grade C or a BTEC First Diploma.

Minimum four grade 3-9 at GCSE or successful completion of the Level 1 course, and English or maths at grade 3. A portfolio of work will be required.

Once you have finished this course and achieved a Merit or above, you will be able to progress onto our Level 3 Art & Design Diploma. Alternatively, you can progress onto a range of other Level 3 or A-Level creative subjects, such as Fine Art, Graphic Design, Photography, Fashion/Textiles, and Media, Music or Performing Arts-based subjects.
