Entry Requirements: Minimum entry requirements are 5 GCSE's at Grade 4 or above, which MUST include English Language and Mathematics, plus any additional individual subject requirements.

Course Summary
Film Studies utilises many of the critical skills developed through the study of English Literature and allows students to express these through a visual medium.
Course Details
How will it be delivered and assessed?
Assessment: 70% written exam, 30% coursework.
The two-year course is divided into three components:
Component 1
• Hollywood 1930 – 1990
• American Film since 2005
• British Film since 1995
Component 2
• Global Film
• Documentary Film
• Silent Cinema
• Experimental Film
Component 3
The practical coursework elements give students the opportunity to make their own films, develop their own screenplays and storyboards whilst also requiring them to undertake research on a topic/aspect of film of their own choosing. Film studied include:
- Casablanca, Bonnie and Clyde, La La Land, Trainspotting, Pan’s Labyrinth, Amy, the films of Buster Keaton and Pulp Fiction.
Entry requirements
General entry requirements: Grade 4 in English Language and Maths together with 3 other GCSE grades at grade 4 or above is the minimum requirement to enter Hillview Sixth Form.
Subject Specific Criteria:
Grade 5 or above in GCSE English Language and English Literature. GCSE Maths grade 4 or above. An APS of 4.5.
