Course Summary
Students will develop an understanding of the concepts and techniques used in managing a business.
Course Details
Students are introduced to business in Year 12 by looking at the themes of Marketing and People and Managing Business Activities, helping to build knowledge of core business concepts and applying them to business contexts to develop a broad u understanding of how businesses work. During this year topics such as the marketing mix, entrepreneurs and leaders and financial planning will be covered. In Year 13, the course develops greater depth of knowledge and understanding, investigating more complex business information around the themes of Business Decisions and Strategy and Global Business, requiring students to take a strategic view of business opportunities and issues.

Entry requirements
General entry minimum requirements to study three Level 3 qualifications for Hillview Sixth Form are Grade 4 in both English Language and Maths together with 3 other GCSE grades at Grade 4 or above.
SUBJECT SPECIFIC ENTRY CRITERIA:
Grade 5 or above in both GCSE English Language and Maths in addition to an APS of 4.5 or above.
A Grade 4 or above in GCSE Business Studies or Economics, or Merit or above in BTEC First Award in Business, is preferred but not essential.
Taking Core Maths as an Enrichment is recommended for students taking this course.

There are many business-based university courses available. Business students often progress onto Business Management courses or specialise in an aspect of business such as Marketing. They may also choose to pursue an apprenticeship degree programme.
