Course Summary
If you are passionate about theatre, then this is the right course for you! Whether you like performing, directing, script writing, staging, or designing, there is a place for you on A Level Drama. This course gives you the opportunity to work creatively in teams and enjoy sharing and experimenting with ideas in drama.
Course Details
Drama and Theatre (written exam)
- Knowledge and understanding of drama and theatre
- Study of two plays (texts can be used in the final exam)
- Analysis and evaluation of the work of live theatre makers
Creating Original Drama (practical)
- Process of creating devised drama
- Performance of devised drama (students may contribute as a performer, designer or director)
- Devised piece must be influenced by the work and methodologies of one prescribed practitioner
Making Theatre (practical)
- Practical exploration and interpretation of three extracts, each from a different play
- Methodology of a practitioner which is to be performed as a final assessed piece (students may contribute as a performer, designer, or director)
- Reflective report analysing and evaluating theatrical interpretation
How will it be delivered and assessed?
You will be assessed through a range of methods including written exam, working notebook, and devised performance.
