I have additional needs
There are lots of ways to get advice and support.
If you are in a school or college, you should be able to speak to your career’s leader and/or careers advisor. If you are unsure who this person is, ask a member of staff who should be able to help you.
They will be able to help you think about what job you want, the qualification you need, the different pathways available to you etc
If you have an Education, Health and Care Plan, it is important you attend the review meetings to share your aims and ambitions about your future, remember this is a chance for you to tell professionals supporting you what you want to do in the future.
Alternatively, there are many other services in and around East Sussex as well as online support services. These can be found on the East Sussex Local Offer directory here.
Supported employment includes Supported Employment Pathways, Supported Internships and Inclusive Apprenticeships.

This guide aims to help young people aged 12-25 who have additional needs, their parents/carers, and the professionals who support them to prepare for the adulthood and develop key skills as they move through each stage of their education.
A new transition guide, ‘School to Adulthood’, co-produced with local students is now available. It’s an online guide to help young people with SEND explore their options for adulthood. It includes information on independence, employment, college life, and features videos from young people sharing their experiences. You can access the guide here.
The iCan campaign has been developed to support 12-25-year-olds who have SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities), and their parent carers & supporters, to develop confidence as they progress through education and into employment and enable them to become more independent as they transition into adulthood.
There are many support resources and services available to you in and around East Sussex as well as virtually.
FAQs from the SEND young ambassadors will be added to this section.
