Course Summary
The new T Level qualification in Textiles and Fashion Maker (Craft & Design) combines theoretical study with the development of practical skills. The course is designed to equip students with a diverse array of skills that are directly relevant to the current needs of the fashion and textiles industry. The course will prepare you for employment within the textiles and fashion industry or further study. You will also complete a significant industry placement with a relevant company or organisation.
Course Details
During the course you will study a range of theory and practical skills, including:
- The creative economy
- The individual in the creative industries
- Cultural context and vocabulary
- Audience
- Legislation/Regulation
- Generating and communicating creative ideas
- Reflective creative practice
- Textiles and Fashion skills and techniques
How will it be delivered and assessed?
The core component will be assessed by two exams and an employer-set project. Your choice of occupational specialism will allow you to develop the relevant skills in preparation for your career in the textiles and fashion sector. The occupational specialism is assessed by a project that is created in conjunction with employers. The content covers topics specific to the role of a textiles and fashion maker.
Entry requirements
Five GCSEs at grade 5 or above, including Maths and English at grade 4.
Your next steps...
This Technical Qualification aligns to the Bespoke Craft Assistant or Garment Maker Level 3 Apprenticeships and, therefore, supports progression to entry-level job. If students would prefer a more academic route, they could progress to relevant Higher National Certificate (HNC) or Higher National Diploma (HND) programmes or degree programmes.
