Course Summary
The new T Level qualification in Media, Broadcast and Production on the Creative Media Technician pathway combines theoretical study with the development of practical skills. The course will involve practical work using up-to-date and industry-standard hardware and software to prepare you for employment within the broadcast production industry or further study. You will also complete a significant industry placement with a relevant company or organisation.
Course Details
During the course you will study a range of theory and practical skills, including:
- The creative economy
- Audience
- Legislation/regulations
- Professionalism and ethics
- Research skills
- Planning, preparing, sourcing and generating media assets
- Assembling, editing and finalising media assets
- Preparing, packaging and delivering media assets
- Preserving media assets for future use/reversioning.
How will it be delivered and assessed?
The core component will be assessed by two exams and an employer-set project. Your choice of occupational specialism will allow you to develop the relevant skills in preparation for your career in the media, broadcast and production sector. The occupational specialism is assessed by a project that is created in conjunction with employers. The content covers topics specific to the role of a creative media technician.
Entry requirements
Five GCSEs at grade 5 or above, including Maths and English at grade 4.
Your next steps...
The course will prepare you to work in the industry in a relevant role, such as control, servicing and repair, tv studio operator, audio production assistant, media technician, or live broadcast technician. If you wish to continue your studies, the course also carries equivalent UCAS points to completing three A Levels and would be particularly suitable for progression onto a media degree. You would also be able to progress onto a relevant high-level apprenticeship.
