Course Summary

This two-year course will provide you with the opportunity to learn what a career in marketing, sales or procurement is likely to involve through a combination of in class learning, work-related projects, and an industry placement.

Course Details

You will study a range of topics including:

• The Business Environment

• Principles of Marketing

• Principles of Procurement

• Legislation and Regulation in Marketing, Sales and Procurement

• Communication in Business

• Project Management

• Impact of Technology on the Business Environment

• Legislation, Regulation and Ethics in the Business Environment

• Marketing Delivery Effectiveness


How will it be delivered and assessed?

Year 1:

Two written examinations
Employer-Set Project (ESP) - a supervised project, devised and set by Pearson. Students will receive marks for Paper A, Paper B and the ESP. These marks will be aggregated to create one grade for the Core Component.

Year 2:

Occupation Specialism - a skills related project that synoptically assesses the performance outcome skills and associated underpinning knowledge. Occupation Specialism - a skills related project that synoptically assesses the performance outcome skills and associated underpinning knowledge.

Year 1 & 2 - Industry Placement:

At least 315 hours across the two years - your evidence log will be assessed.

Entry requirements

Five GCSEs at grade 5 or above, including English and Maths.

Equipment required

As an integral part of this course, students will be required to attend work placement which will incur a cost for travel. There may also be trips that enrich the curriculum which may incur an additional expense.

Achieving this technical qualification will provide several progression options. These could include:

• Skilled employment - Marketing Assistant, Account Executive in Marketing or related disciplines.

• Level 4 Apprenticeships - Marketing Executive, Market Research Executive, Public Relations and Communications Assistant
