Course Summary
Sociology provides students with the exciting opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the world around them.
The course looks at contemporary issues and gives students the chance to develop a desirable set of key skills, including the ability to formulate clear, logical arguments with extensive evaluation from a range of theoretical perspectives.

Course Details
Sociology focuses on topics that affect our society today, for example:
- the way that culture identity is formed
- how research is performed
- understanding how and why our society is unequal
- the impact of digital technology
- what can be done about crime and deviance in society
How will it be delivered and assessed?
A-Level – three examinations:
- Socialisation,
- Culture and identity (1 ½ hours).
- Researching and understanding social inequalities (2 ¼ hours)
- Debates in contemporary society (2 ¼ hours).
