Course Summary
This is the right subject for you if:
You enjoy using your body to explore movement and have a desire to develop technique and expand existing Dance skills
You want to build on your existing appreciation of Dance and enjoy watching, analysing and understanding professional works.
You are motivated to develop your knowledge to be a performer, a choreographer and an active audience member.
You are willing to participate in live performances and to come to rehearsals outside of timetabled lesson time.
Course Details
You will have the opportunity to create your own choreography, develop your practical , technical and expressive Dance skills and analyse, appreciate and critique professional Dance works.
How will it be delivered and assessed?
Component 1 - 50% Practical;
Solo Performance (20 mark)
Group Performance (20 mark)
Group Choreography (40 mark)
Component 2 - 50% Theory;
Critical Engagement. Professional Dance analysis (written exam– 100 mark)
Entry requirements
5 GCSEs with a mixture of 9 to 5 grades. Students do not need to have completed a GCSE or BTEC in Dance, however practical Dance ability and experience are recommended.
