Course Summary
Philosophy is a demanding yet incredibly fascinating and stimulating subject. The academic study of philosophy enables you to delve into deep enquiry about knowledge, morality and the mind; fundamental questions of truth and human understanding. This A level is suited to inquisitive, open minded students who enjoy debating and wish to broaden their horizons. This A Level combines particularly well with History, English Literature and Language, Economics and Politics, but also compliments Sociology, Psychology, Religious Studies, Foreign Languages, Maths, Science, Film Studies and Media Studies.
Course Details
Epistemology: a study of the theory of knowledge.
Moral Philosophy: A study of normative ethical theories.
Metaphysics of God: A study of the concept of God.
Metaphysics of Man: A study of minds and mental states.
How will it be delivered and assessed?
2 x 3 hour papers of equal weighting.
There is no coursework.
Entry requirements
Five Grade 9-5 GCSEs as well as a Grade 6 in Religious Studies and/or a Grade 6 in English.
