Course Summary

Geography is a highly relevant and flexible subject that deals with issues in the real world. As such, it helps you to understand the increasingly complex world we live in and make sense of the issues we all face. Geography also links well with other subjects in the Humanities or Sciences.

Course Details

Physical Geography: Water and carbon cycles, Coastal Systems and landscapes and Hazards

Human Geography: Global systems and governance, Changing places
and Contemporary urban environments or Population and the environment

Geography Investigation: Students complete an individual investigation which must include data collected from fieldwork. The individual investigation must be based on a question or issue defined or developed by the student relating to any part of the specification.

How will it be delivered and assessed?

Physical Geography: 2 hours 30 minutes examination. 96 marks. 40% of A Level.

Human Geography: 2 hours 30 minutes examination. 96 marks. 40% of A Level

Geography Investigation: 3,000-4,000 words. 35 marks. 20% of A Level.

Entry requirements

A-Level programme requires grade 6 in Geography and 2 sciences at GCSE and grade 5 in English Language GCSE.
