Course Summary
What will I study?
You will build on skills learned at KS4 and work on a larger scale in a more ambitious and meaningful way. There are opportunities to work with traditional materials, such as painting and drawing, print-making, clay, 3D processes*, photography and digital media.
*Students wishing to focus on 3D Design, can make this their specialist theme.
Other information:
All of the work you complete in lessons and for homework tasks, forms part of your coursework: this accounts for 60% of your final grade. The examination accounts for the remaining 40%. All work is formally assessed at the end of each unit and again at the end of the course, so there are opportunities to improve your grade.

Course Details
There are four assessment objectives which you work towards evidencing:
AO1: Investigate and analyse artists and artforms
AO2: Explore ideas, materials and processes
AO3: Record observations and ideas
AO4: Present a personal response
How will it be delivered and assessed?
All of the work you complete in lessons and for homework tasks, forms part of your coursework: this accounts for 60% of your final grade. The examination accounts for the remaining 40%. This is set over two days (eight hours) for which you will have twelve weeks to plan and prepare. All work is formally assessed at the end of each unit and again at the end of the course, so there is always an opportunity to improve your grade.
Entry requirements
GCSE Art - Grade 5 or higher; BTEC Art level 2 - Distinction.
A strong interest in Art and a commitment to independent study are essential.
