Course Details

The Foundation Learning programme is aimed at young people who have not reached a GCSE pass grade in English or Maths, or have not yet achieved the qualifications to start a Level 1 Diploma programme. It delivers a well supported course that may also include an introductory vocational option of studying towards a relevant qualification. This course will provide opportunities for young people to gain qualification in Functional Skills in English and Maths. These are qualifications that will enable progression to a higher level course, an apprenticeship or work. Students who join this programme may benefit from support with learning difficulties. A vocational choice will be discussed with students to establish the individual career path options. Curriculum support workers assist with young people in a mentoring capacity to provide guidance and support with various issues that affect young people to provide a suitable programme for their needs.

Functional Skills exams + practical assessment and portfolio

Entry requirements

A good school report. Minimum 4 GCSEs at Grade 2 or above, including Maths, English and Science, or equivalent. A good command of English Language is needed. In addition, all students will be interviewed.
