BTEC L2 Technical Occupational Entry in Leading Community Activity (Diploma) develops a strong blend of practical leadership, teamwork, and communication skills that transfer directly into both the public services and wider employability sector. Through planning and leading activities, working with diverse groups, and managing real-world scenarios, learners build confidence, resilience, and problem-solving abilities that are essential across many service-based careers.

Course Details

The course combines practical sessions with written tasks, reflective reviews, and community-focused projects. Learners gain experience in health and fitness, safeguarding, risk assessment, and professional conduct, all of which align closely with the expectations of roles in the police, fire service, armed forces, youth work, and community engagement. By the end of the programme, learners will have developed the core behaviours employers look for such as reliability, teamwork, leadership, communication, and adaptability.

How will it be delivered and assessed?

You will be assessed in a variety of ways; some will be through traditional written or practical assignments as well as online examinations.You will also be provided with significant opportunities to develop your employability skills and ability to work within the public services industry. These can be assessed and used as evidence towards the completion of academic units.

Practical leadership assessments, written assignments/workbooks, observations, evidence gathered from practical participation, scenario-based tasks and reflective evaluations.

4 GCSEs grade 2 or above (including English and Maths)

The aim of the programme is to provide students with the opportunity to combine academic knowledge, with practical skills. The 2-year programme provides time for students to develop a clearer understanding of the area they wish to work in; the overriding ambition of this course is that students will have greater variety to choose from on completion and that they can see employment and apprenticeship placements as a realistic opportunity.
