Course Summary
This Level 2 course is ideal for anyone who has an interest in the hospitality industry. If you would like to develop your skills and gain the necessary experience to pursue a career in the hospitality industry, then this qualification is for you.
You will study hospitality and catering businesses to understand the requirements to work in the industry and maintain food safety and health and safety procedures. You will take part in events to prepare food and beverage service areas using a range of working skills with your peers. You will gain a range employability skills and knowledge to progress to Level 3, employment or an apprenticeship.
Course Details
You will gain a broad understanding and knowledge of a vocational sector as well as investigate areas of specific interest. You will develop essential skills and attributes prized by employers, further education colleges and higher education institutions. Units include:
- Introducing the Hospitality Industry (external exam January)
- Working in the Hospitality Industry
- Food Safety and Health and Safety
- Food and Beverage Service in the Hospitality Industry
How will it be delivered and assessed?
Assessment will be through written assignments and observation of practical tasks such as events, and one external exam in January. Students may have to take part in early evening functions as part of their course, but you will be notified of this in advance.

A range of 3/2 grades at GCSE.
