Course Details

If you definitely want to be an engineer, and have the ability, the imagination and the interest to think about ‘how things work’, then this course is for you. This is engineering and technology with a big emphasis on mechanical manufacturing. You will make components by different processes such as welding, drilling, milling and turning, in addition to working with electrical circuits and will be given opportunities such as building a heat-treated multi-tool to manufacture. Using CAD packages, you will design the concept, creating a CAD drawing on an industry standard package in order to translate that information into a design to be manufactured. Our Study Programme includes opportunities for you to develop your English and Maths skills as required. You may be expected to complete either functional skills or GCSE qualifications as part of your course depending on your GCSE results. This course includes the opportunity to take part in an industry placement in a sector relevant to your qualification and study programme. The placement will take place 1 or 2 days per week on the days when you are not in college studying. Industry placements are designed to give you the skills to start work at the end of your studies, progress into an apprenticeship, or to add to your UCAS statement.

How will it be delivered and assessed?
