Entry Requirements: - Grade 4 and above in 5 GCSEs Including English and Maths for Level 3 programmes, higher grades are required for some subjects

Course Details

Physical Chemistry (atom structure, bonding, energetics, energetics, Redox equations, thermodynamics, electrode potential, acids & bases, etc)
Inorganic Chemistry (periodicity, groups 2 & 7, transition metals, reactions of ions in aqueous solutions, etc)
Organic Chemistry (alkanes, haloalkanes, alkenes, alcohols, organic analysis, optical isomerism, aldehydes & ketones, aromatic chemistry, polymers, amino acids & DNA, chromatography, organic synthesis, etc)

The course includes a lot of practical techniques you will learn to master and be examined for in the end of year exams.

  • written paper 2 hours and 15 minutes
  • 37% of total A Level

Synthesis and Analytical Techniques

  • 100 marks
  • written paper 2 hours and 15 minutes

Unified Chemistry

  • 70 marks
  • written paper 1 hour and 30 minutes
  • 26% of total A Level

Practical Endorsement in Chemistry

  • Reported separately


Entry requirements

Students will require a minimum of five 9-4 grades at GCSE, including English Language and Mathematics at grade 6 or above and Science at grade 67. Studying A level Mathematics alongside Chemistry is a big advantage.
