Course Summary
This vocational qualification is career-focused and grounded in the world of work. It offers a comprehensive introduction to careers in business and provides the opportunity to experience real, authentic business practices. You will gain skills and knowledge in business, then put those skills into practice in real-life scenarios. You will also develop a variety of important skills which are transferable to any walk of life.
Course Details
You will study a total of thirteen units. Some of the core units are as follows:
- Unit 1 – Exploring Business
- Unit 2 – Developing a Marketing Campaign
- Unit 3 – Personal and Business Finance
- Unit 4 – Managing an Event
- Unit 5 – International Business
The course has a work placement element that provides an excellent opportunity to put your learning into practice in the workplace.
We regularly invite guest speakers from local and national organisations such as the NHS, Chestnut Tree House, the University of Law, and Hastings Direct. Students also take part in an enterprise week where they create a product, arrange marketing, produce budgets, and sell to their target market.
How will it be delivered and assessed?
On completion of the course, you will gain a Pass, Merit, Distinction, or Distinction*. Most of the units will be coursework-based based and some will be examination-based.
Entry requirements
At least four to five GCSEs graded 9-4, including English and Maths.

The qualification carries UCAS points and is recognised by higher education providers as contributing to meeting admission requirements for many courses. This course develops practical business skills, so it is suitable for students wishing to move on to higher education, apprenticeships or wish to develop the skills to set up their own business.
