Careers Leader Information

Continued Professional Development

Together with Jennie Cole of Hailsham Community College and Claire Noble of Saxon Mount School, East Sussex Careers Hub has prepared this Careers Leader handbook, which we hope careers professionals will find useful. The Careers Hub plan to update the handbook regularly, so do let us know if there are other sections you would like to see, or if you have any other suggestions.

The Careers Hub provide a range of training and upskilling opportunities for our school and college Careers Leaders and staff. We run three free careers staff CPD days each academic year with speakers from education and business. Each event focuses on specific Gatsby Benchmarks. The CPD days also provide great opportunities for delegates to network and share best practice and challenges with other careers staff.

The Hub also runs quarterly Careers Hub Forums which offer a further opportunity for Careers Leaders to meet and network whilst sharing and receiving updates on the careers education landscape.

The Careers Hub team provide ongoing support to Careers Leaders who can speak to their Enterprise Coordinator to arrange any of the following:

  • Teaching staff CPD twilight sessions
  • Parents' evening sessions
  • Business volunteer support for careers activities and events
  • Ad-hoc training and development needs.

Are you looking to refresh your knowledge as a designated Careers Lead or new to the role?

In addition to the support offered by the Careers Hub, the Careers and Enterprise Company and TeachFirst have designed a short course of five modules to help Careers Leaders to review your careers provision, maximise your resources, work with partners and pull everything together in a plan.
