Media Studies A-Level is a fascinating course which allows you to explore culturally significant theoretical perspectives in analytical writing and then demonstrate your understanding in a creative portfolio. You use industry specialist software to construct a range of print, AV and online forms. Media students learn about a wide range of texts, discuss cultural contexts and representations as well as gaining an insight into production, marketing and how to target specific audiences. This course provides a pathway to a related degree or career in the media, an excellent route for Journalism, PR, Marketing or Communications.

Component 1: Investigating the Media: In this section, a whole range of media forms are considered, from music videos to video games. You will analyse media language, explore representations in the media and understanding of key aspects of media industries and audiences Component 2: Media Forms and Products in Depth: This section will allow you to explore texts in more detail with comparative analysis. The areas you will study are Television, Magazines and Media in the Online Age Component 3 Cross-Media Production: Using industry standard software you will create an individual cross-media production using traditional and digital forms � eg a film marketing campaign There are exams at the end of the course and a coursework module. This course would suit you if you are the kind of person that is interested in what the media tells us about the world we live in and how the media itself impacts upon us and our society, this is the course for you

Entry requirements
Our general entry criteria to study 3 A-Levels is: Minimum five GCSEs grade 4-9 with English Language or Maths at grade 5. For a mixed Level 3 programme the criteria are: Minimum five GCSEs grade 4-9 with English Language or Maths at grade 4. Subject specific entry criteria apply: A GCSE grade 4 in English Language.
