Course Summary
A-Level Geography will help you develop a wider understanding of geographical issues, such as climate change, coastal environments, migration, and globalisation, while providing you with a range of transferable skills, such as observation, measurement, analysis, interpretation and reporting.
Course Details
During this two-year course, you will study a whole range of geographical topics, gain an understanding of physical and human geography, and become critical, reflective and independent. You will learn more about the consequences of globalisation, responses to hazards, water insecurity, and climate change. During your coursework assignments, you will have the opportunity to define a question or issue for investigation. The question will relate to any aspect of geography contained within the specification. The investigation report will show evidence of independent analysis and your ability to evaluate and present data. This course will help you develop a whole host of transferable skills, such as observation, measurement, analysis, interpretation and reporting. These skills are highly prized by universities and employers.
Entry requirements
Our general entry criteria to study 3 A-Levels is: Minimum five GCSEs grade 4-9 with English Language or Maths at grade 5. For a mixed Level 3 programme the criteria are: Minimum five GCSEs grade 4-9 with English Language or Maths at grade 4. Subject specific entry criteria apply: A GCSE grade 4 in English Language and grade 5 in a Science subject.

Once you have completed this course, you will be able to progress to a wide range of university courses, both within and outside the geography curriculum. There are a number of career opportunities available to you after your studies. These include cartography, commercial or residential surveying, environmental consulting, planning and development surveying, town planning or teaching.
