Course Summary
This qualification has less of an exam focus compared to the Media A Level route but there are examinations involved for three of the units. Students will be required to critically analyse, apply theoretical perspectives and study key concepts such as representation, genre, narrative an audience.
The subject is studied alongside other BTEC or A Level subjects.

What will I study?
· Unit 1: Media products and audiences (90 GLH)
· Unit 2: Pre-production and planning (90 GLH)
· Unit 3: Create a media product (60 GLH)
· 2-4 other optional units (120 GLH)
These units will give learners an understanding of how different media institutions operate to create products that appeal to specific target audiences. They’ll gain knowledge and understanding of the pre-production, planning and production processes and go on to create a media product. The optional units provide learners with the opportunity to broaden their knowledge, understanding and skills in key areas, such as, social media and globalisation, journalism and the news industry or advertising media.

Minimum Entry Requirements
Grade 4 or above in English Language GCSE and ideally grade 4 in Media at GCSE.
