You will be required to have appropriate clothing for practical sessions, some of which can be purchased through college. You will also be expected to attend a residential educational visit as part of the course. This will be covered by the fees associated with the course.
Course Summary
Units of study include: understanding business in sport; preparing to work in the sport and leisure industry; participating in sport; sports coaching; outdoor and adventurous activities; plan and set up an enterprising sport business; and plan, deliver and evaluate an activity session. You will also have the option to study the Community Sports Leadership Award (CSLA) and join a Sports Academy course.
Course Details
The course forms part of the Level 2 programme. Within the qualification you will study 7 units including: Understanding business in sport Preparing to work in the sport and leisure industry Participating in sport Sports coaching Outdoor and adventurous activities Plan and set up an enterprising sport business Plan deliver and evaluate an activity session. You will also have the option to study the Community Sports Leadership Award (CSLA) and have the opportunity to join a Sports Academy course. Where appropriate, you will also be able to study additional GCSEs. We will expect you to show a commitment to developing your knowledge associated with practical performance in sport. Where appropriate, you may be required to study additional GCSEs such as English Language and Maths.
How will it be delivered and assessed?
Assessment is through a combination of one externally set assessment as well as continuous coursework and practical completion of work.
Entry requirements
Minimum four grade 3-9 at GCSE or successful completion of the Level 1 course, and English or maths at grade 3.
