Course Summary
This course is designed for students that have completed hairdressing and barbering qualifications at Level 2 and above and wish to specialise in barbering. The course teaches fundamental clipper cuts, short fades, beard grooming, facial massage, hot towels and basic styling. You will then advance onto creative scissor cuts, cutthroat shaving and razor outlining, and advanced styling based on trends and themes. This qualification includes all the required elements to work effectively as a senior barber or senior men's hair stylist / hairdresser.
Course Details
You will practise cutting techniques with scissors and clippers, learn how to carry out an effective client consultation, you will blow-dry and apply finishing products, cut and sculpt facial hair, and learn about health and safety in the salon environment. Once you have completed this course you will be ready to start working in a salon.
How will it be delivered and assessed?
You will build up a portfolio of evidence that showcases your skills and knowledge some of which will be assessed against occupational competency Practical assessments will take place throughout the year, when you are ready to do so. Written unit papers are set to assess you underpinning knowledge of the subjects studied.
Entry requirements
Successful completion of the Level 2 course and GCSE English or maths at grade 4.
