This one-year course will give you an introduction into the Sports and Uniformed Protective Services industry. You will join with students from the Sports and UPS department at the start of the year to learn a range of key skills during a three-day development programme. You will camp for two nights and have the opportunity to improve your team building, communication and leadership skills during a range of activities and tasks. Once you return from camp, theory and practical lessons will take place in the classroom, in our fully-equipped gym and at Horntye Sports complex, where you will learn about anatomy and physiology, fitness, and diet. Topics you will study include: * Healthy lifestyle * Participation in sport * Sports leadership * How the active body works * Customer service skills * Presentation skills * Physical fitness * English and maths

How will it be delivered and assessed?

You will be assessed through a range of practical and coursework assignments, as well as an exam.

Entry requirements

Your next steps...

On completion of the course you can progress onto further study including our Level 2 BTEC in Sport or Protective Services, where further skills will prepare you for a career in sport and active leisure, or a career in one of the uniformed public services. With additional training you could start your career in the industry working as a Gym instructor, Personal trainer, Sports coach, Leisure assistant, or joined the police, the navy, or the Air force.
