Entry Requirements: - Students wishing to study 3 Level 3 courses will be required to achieve 5+ GCSEs at grade 5 and above including English and Mathematics. However, some subjects have additional requirements in terms of the grades required. The Marsh Academy operates a sliding scale of qualifications which are outlined on the Marsh Academy website. There is scope for students to study 2 Level 3 subjects and also studying some Level 2 subjects. Students who wish to study two subjects must have attained 4+GCSEs at grade 5 or above.

Course Summary
Students who wish to study double sport, worth two Level 3 qualifications, must also select Sport Extended Certificate in block A
BTEC sport is a broad basis of study for the sport sector. This qualification is designed to support progression to higher education when taken as part of a programme of study. Students studying this qualification will learn about a wide range of sports and topics vital for a greater understanding sport and its associated areas for development. The qualification is equal to the size of two A Levels.
Course Details
The content of this qualification has been developed in consultation with academics to ensure that it supports progression to higher education. Employers and professional bodies have also been involved and consulted to confirm that the content is appropriate and consistent with current practice for learners who may choose to enter employment directly in the sports sector. The mandatory content allows students to concentrate on the development of their practical skills and the broad knowledge required for entrance into higher education programmes in the sport. Learners will study six mandatory units:
• Unit 1: Anatomy and Physiology
• Unit 2: Fitness Training and Programming for Health, Sport and Well-being
• Unit 3: Professional Development in the Sports Industry
• Unit 4: Sports Leadership
• Unit 22: Investigating Business in the Sport and Active Leisure Industry
• Unit 23: Skill Acquisition in Sport.
Learners are taught three units from a range of optional topics.

Unit 1: Anatomy and Physiology – externally assessed
• Unit 2: Fitness Training and Programming for Health, Sport and Well-being- externally assessed
• Unit 3: Professional Development in the Sports Industry- internally assessed
• Unit 4: Sports Leadership - internally assessed
• Unit 22: Investigating Business in the Sport and Active Leisure Industry – externally assessed
• Unit 23: Skill Acquisition in Sport. -internally assessed
All optional units are internally assessed
Entry requirements
A minimum of a Level 2 Merit or grade 4 in PE in addition to the published entry requirements.
