Entry Requirements: - Students wishing to study 3 Level 3 courses will be required to achieve 5+ GCSEs at grade 5 and above including English and Mathematics. However, some subjects have additional requirements in terms of the grades required. The Marsh Academy operates a sliding scale of qualifications which are outlined on the Marsh Academy website. There is scope for students to study 2 Level 3 subjects and also studying some Level 2 subjects. Students who wish to study two subjects must have attained 4+GCSEs at grade 5 or above.

Course Summary

Studying Psychology at A Level allows students to explore the fascinating questions of how our behaviour and minds are shaped, exploring biological, cognitive and developmental theories that underpin this exciting subject.

Course Details

Within the A level framework students will study a range of topics including;
Social influence, Memory, Attachment, Psychopathology, Approaches in Psychology, Biopsychology, Research methods and Issues and debates in Psychology. The study of Psychology is based in the scientific world and requires strong mathematical skills.

Component 1: Topics on Psychology
Written exam: 2 hours
Component 2: Psychology in Context
Written exam: 2 hours
Component 3: Issues and options in Psychology
Written exam: 2 hours

Entry requirements

A grade 5 or above in English and a 6 in GCSE Sciences and Mathematics in addition to the published entry requirements.
