A range of specified PPE and a basic plumbing tool set will be required for this course and will cost approximately �115. The PPE required will consist of safety boots, work trousers, navy/black polo shirt, gloves, hi-vis vest and safety glasses. There are also a number of opportunities throughout the year for various construction related trips which may also incur a cost.
Course Summary
If you are working towards a career as a plumber, then this Level 2 course will help you take your skills to the next level. You will learn more about carrying out domestic plumbing, including cold and hot water systems and sanitation.
Course Details
During the course you will build on your existing knowledge and skills to gain a greater understanding of the trade. You will learn about cold water systems, domestic hot water systems and sanitation in our purpose built plumbing workshop. From here you will then get a feel for installing a central heating system and how drainage systems work. You will have the opportunity to undertake work experience placements, as well develop your skills in maths and English. The course focuses on key practical skills and theory, covering areas such as: * Health and Safety * Scientific principles for domestic, industrial and commercial plumbing * Common plumbing processes * Cold water systems * Domestic hot water systems * Sanitation * Central heating systems * Drainage systems
How will it be delivered and assessed?
Assessments will take place throughout the duration of the course. Practical tasks will make up 50% of the assessment and the other 50% will be made up of exams. Constructive feedback from your tutor will help you to improve and progress towards recognised industrial standards.
Entry requirements
Minimum four grade 3-9 at GCSE or successful completion of the Level 1 course, and English and maths at grade 4.
Your next steps...
On completion of the course you can progress onto the Level 3 Plumbing course or start an apprenticeship in plumbing. With additional training you could then progress into employment as a Plumber, a domestic heating engineer, a Commercial plumbing and heating engineer, a Plumbing and heating maintenance engineer, a Hot and cold water systems designer, an Air-conditioning and refrigeration systems engineer, or a Site manager.
