A range of specified PPE and a basic painting kit and equipment will be required for this course and will cost approximately �137. The PPE required will consist of safety boots, white bib and brace overalls. There are also a number of opportunities throughout the year for various construction related trips which may also incur a cost.

Course Summary

Develop your existing knowledge and learn more advanced techniques and principles of painting and decorating, such as how to paint in complex areas with brushes and rollers.

Course Details

During this one-year course you will develop your existing knowledge and learn more advanced techniques and principles of painting and decorating. You will learn some more advance painting techniques such as how to paint in complex areas with brushes and rollers. You'll learn how to erect and dismantle access equipment and working platforms, and practise producing specialist finishes for decorative effect. You will have the opportunity to undertake a work experience placement and improve your English and maths skills during the course. During this course you will cover topics including: �Health, safety and welfare in construction �Principals of building construction �Applying paint systems by brush and roller to complex areas �Applying standard papers to walls and ceilings �Producing specialist finishes for decorative work �Erecting and dismantling access equipment and working platforms During this course you will be able to expand your knowledge and technical ability to help prepare you for a career in the industry

How will it be delivered and assessed?

Assessments will take place throughout the duration of the course. Practical tasks will make up 60% of the assessment, coursework will make up 30% and 10% will be made up of exams. Accuracy and completing tasks within a specified time frame will be important to the successful completion of the course. Constructive feedback from your tutor will also help you to improve and progress towards recognised industrial standards

Entry requirements

Successful completion of the Level 1 course and GCSE English or maths at grade 3.

On completion of the course you can progress onto a Painting and Decorating Apprenticeship or our Level 3 Painting and Decorating. You may wish to start your career in the industry and could find roles as an Industrial Painter, Specialist Paperhanger or go into Property Maintenance
