Music Performance and Production Level 3 Diploma [Y1]

This two-year Diploma course is equivalent to three full A-Levels, and is designed to prepare you for employment in the music industry, self-employment, or for progression to higher education. Undertake a wide and exciting range of practical project work to develop your skills in our industry-standard facilities.

The two-year UAL Level 3 Extended Diploma in Music Performance and Production is equivalent to three full A-Levels. It is designed to prepare you for employment in the music industry, self-employment or for progression to higher education. Year 1 comprises the Diploma, and most students progress to the Extended Diploma in year 2. Undertake a wide and exciting range of practical project work to develop your skills in our industry-standard facilities to prepare you a rewarding career in the industry. Examples of work include recording a multi-track album, performance techniques and session musician skills, working as a self-employed entity in the industry and being commissioned to compose music to specific briefs. You will produce your own solo album, help organise and run at least one of a series of performances and also set up and run the college record label during the second year. We have excellent facilities to help you develop technically, creatively and professionally.

You will be assessed by way of assignments which are both practical and research based, using industry-standard techniques and practices including audio recordings, live music performances, video interviews, tutorials, and blogs.

Minimum five grade 4-9 at GCSE or successful completion of the Level 2 course, and English or maths at grade 4. Good ability on a musical instrument to be shared at interview.

This course can provide a pathway to both higher education and careers in the music industry and beyond, including with the BBC. Opportunities for higher level study in music technology and production include our own Foundation Degree and Degree in Music Production, awarded by the University of Brighton.
