Course Summary
This City & Guilds accredited qualification is aimed at learners aged 16+ who are looking to start a career as a vehicle technician in the automotive industry. You will learn the skills and knowledge to carry out routine light vehicle maintenance, replacement of Combustion Engine Units and Components, Engine Mechanical, Lubrication and Cooling System Units and vehicle Fuel, Ignition, Air and Exhaust System Units. Successful learners will be able to progress to the Level 2 Diploma in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Principles or apply for an automotive apprenticeship. Course entry requirements: Minimum of GCSEs grade 3 in English and Maths

How will it be delivered and assessed?
Your assessments will be made up of 50% practical, 25% coursework and 25% exams.
Entry requirements
Minimum four grade 3-9 at GCSE or successful completion of the Level 1 course, and English or maths at grade 3.

On completion of the course you can progress onto the Level 2 Diploma in Light Vehicle Maintenance & Repair Principles. There are a number of career opportunities available to you after finishing this course, for instance you may find roles in the industry working as a semi-skilled mechanic, working in vehicle sales, or perhaps join an apprenticeship or management training scheme.
