This qualification is ideal if you want practical, industry-relevant IT skills that prepare you for both higher education and the modern digital workplace. You’ll explore how technology underpins organisations, develop problem-solving abilities, and gain hands-on experience with real tools used across the sector.

You will study four mandatory units covering key areas of IT:

• Information Technology Systems - how digital systems operate and support organisations

• Cyber Security and Incident Management - threats, vulnerabilities, and how to respond to security incidents

• Website Development - designing, building, and testing functional websites.

• Relational Database Development - creating and managing structured data solutions.

The course blends theory with practical tasks to build strong technical and transferable skills.

There are two externally assessed written exams which will test your understanding of IT systems and cyber security. The remaining units are assessed through practical set assignments, where you apply your skills to realistic scenarios. This combination ensures you develop both knowledge and applied competence.

At least five GCSE grades 9-4 including English or Maths.

The course supports progression to university degrees such as Computing, Information Systems, Cyber Security, or Business-related subjects. It also provides a strong foundation for apprenticeships and entry-level roles in IT support, web development, data management, and digital services.
