Course Summary

The Education T-Level will develop your knowledge and understanding in a range of core elements that will underpin your learning in Early Year Education. You will be given a context to the industry, learn the key concepts and theories in education, learning and teaching, and develop the skills you need to do the job.

Course Details

During this two-year course, you will study a range of core elements that will teach you more about education and childcare. Child Development - You will learn about the expected patterns of children and young peoples cognitive, physical, social and emotional development. This will also include studying the development of receptive and expressive language. Supporting Education - Youll gain an overview of the National Curricula for different key stages and learn about the skills and attributes that support children and young peoples education. You will also study current theories and pedagogical approaches, the evidence that underpins them, and how they're applied in education. Safeguarding, Health and Safety and Wellbeing - You will fully understand the legal requirements of health and safety, security, safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. You will also learn about safeguarding policies and Prevent Strategy. Observation and Assessment - You will understand the purpose and role of national assessments and benchmarks. You will develop your skills so you can accurately observe, record and report on children and young peoples participation, conceptual understanding and progress. Special Educational Needs and Disability - You will learn the laws, codes of practice and policies that affect provision for children and young people with disabilities and those with special educational needs. You will have the opportunity to put your learning into practice during an industry placement. You will be able to demonstrate your core knowledge and skills to develop a substantial piece of work in response to an employer-set brief.

How will it be delivered and assessed?

There will be two papers that assess your knowledge and understanding across the 12 elements. The employer set project, set by CACHE, will be taken under controlled supervision and will give you the option to choose from three scenarios.

Entry requirements

Minimum five grade 4-9 at GCSE or successful completion of the Level 2 course, and English and maths at grade 4. A clear DBS check will be required.

Your next steps...

Once you have finished the course, you may decide to go into employment, apply for university, or start an apprenticeship. Employment is a natural progression from the course as you will be fully equipped with the knowledge and skills in this particular area. You may decide that you'd like to start an apprenticeship. Depending on your chosen employer and level of the apprenticeship, you might be able to start a higher apprenticeship at Level 4 and study to degree level. If you'd like to carry on studying, then you will be able to apply to university. Your T-Level qualification will give you the equivalent grades as 3 A-Levels, which means you will have enough UCAS points to join courses such as Teaching, Childcare, or Child Psychology.
