Creative Music Industry Level 3

Students on the Creative Music Industry course can choose from one of two pathways, Music Performance or Music Production. This course aims to support you to build skills in composing, recording, producing, and performing music. The curriculum offers you the opportunity to develop musicianship and technical skills.

The curriculum has been designed to offer you a range of opportunities to craft and develop musical and audio skills for a range of different contexts, with a focus on practical learning and project-based assignments to support your competencies in building a portfolio of relevant musical works.

If you are applying for Level 3, you would be expected to to have some degree of capability in either or both musicianship/vocal skill or production.

You will develop strong vocational and personal competencies, such as working to deadlines, time management and project planning, independent study and professional communication, in order to prepare for roles within the Music industry or for further study at University level and beyond.

• Learn to apply Logic Pro skills to sequencing, drum programming, sampling, audio recording and remixing in a studio environment
• Record and collaborate with established artists
• Develop your songwriting in a variety of styles and genres
• Explore different careers in the music industry
• Perform at venues across the South Coast
• Work on artist development and marketing
• Explore sounds design for video and games
• Work with Brighton record labels
• Build a professional portfolio of recordings
• Release your music
• Previous guests include DJ Skitz, MC Harry Shotta, Tru Thoughts and Rough Trade

• • Achieve RSL L3 Subsidiary Diploma in Creative Music Industry (1st year)
• • Achieve RSL L3 Extended Diploma in Creative Music Industry (2nd year)
• • Create a portfolio of professional recordings
• • Complete a Relevant work experience placement
• • Perform at a variety of venues and events
• • Progress to university level courses or seek a career in the music industry, including Engineering, Production, Performance and Management

• A previous Level 2 qualification and/or GCSE Grades 4-9 (inc. English & maths) - subject to interview
