We ask all Media students to purchase a pair of headphones and to make sure they have materials to support their learning. You may be asked to contribute towards additional trips on the course which sit outside of the curriculum trips and visits.

Course Summary

Start your journey as a media professional with intensive production-based education and training across the four major media languages: TV & film, journalism, graphic design and radio/audio. You will also run live professional media products such as Eastbourne youth radio and Tag magazine.Develop your academic research and writing skills, and gain industry experience through your assignments and work experience placements.

Start your journey as a media professional with intensive production-based education and training across the four major media languages: TV & film, journalism, graphic design and radio/audio. How will it be delivered and assessed?

Assessment is continuous throughout the course with key dates published in year for academic review with your tutors and through production based assignments. There is no formal examination for the diploma but you will complete an end of year project for external moderation. This Final Major Project will give you an opportunity to specialise as a Filmmaker, Graphic Designer, Journalist or Audio/Radio broadcaster.

Entry requirements

Minimum five grade 4-9 at GCSE or successful completion of the Level 2 course, and English or maths at grade 4. A portfolio of work will be required.

This course can provide a pathway to specialist degree courses in universities and colleges of higher education. Subject to appropriate grades, you may be eligible to apply to the Art & Design Foundation (Media specialist pathway) or Digital Media Design Foundation Degree.
