Healthcare is usually considered to be the treatment or prevention of a disease, illness, injury or disability. 

Social care is supporting people with their daily living activities such as eating, drinking, getting washed and dressed. It is also about helping people to maintain their independence and engage in social activities. 

Healthcare and social care services work closely together. This provides a wide range of career paths and progression opportunities.

Health and social care recruit people from all ages and backgrounds with a broad range of skills and experiences. This includes people starting their very first job or people re-entering the workplace. Career changers can also find opportunities as can people looking for part time or voluntary work.

Health and social care also offer a wide range of jobs that are not directly associated with the treatment and care of people. There are many support roles needed to ensure the sector works effectively. These positions include a range of administrative roles, driving and logistics, cleaning, retail and food preparation.
