About us
At Beacon Academy Sixth Form, we offer a culture that is highly aspirational and ambitious for excellence in all we do. Our specialist staff provide exceptional tuition at the highest level, supported by specialist advice and guidance. Our students thrive academically, benefitting from a highly personalised and independent approach to learning that prepares them for the best universities, including Oxford and Cambridge, or high quality training and employment.
Student support
We know that our students’ happiness is key to their success, which is why we adopt a holistic approach to prioritising their wellbeing and ensuring their all-round progress.
We know our students incredibly well, and care about their wellbeing and mental health. Our professional, caring and exceptionally effective team of staff support students through all aspects of Sixth Form life, building relationships that help our young people to develop a sense of belonging and feel secure in the knowledge that there is always someone there for them.
We have a dedicated Head of Year and Assistant Head of Year responsible for each year group and a team of counsellors who are all able to support our students.
We also have a Sixth Form Bursary that offers qualifying students financial support to help with the costs associated with Sixth Form study.
By prioritising the welfare and wellbeing of our young people, we can effectively support them to achieve their academic goals and acquire the skills and attributes they need to progress to the world beyond Beacon.
What makes us different?
At our dedicated Sixth Form Centre, students benefit from a calm, inclusive and purposeful atmosphere, where they receive exceptional academic and pastoral support, guidance and advice from our phenomenal Sixth Form team. We work collaboratively with parents, developing relationships that enable us to provide our young people with wraparound care.
The high expectations set at the lower school continue into our Sixth Form and students are expected to work hard, and demonstrate commitment, resilience and determination to support their success.
We expect our Sixth Formers to be ambitious. As they develop as independent learners and prepare to take their next steps, we support them to develop the knowledge, skills and self-belief to achieve those ambitions. Our leavers progress to some of the best universities, including Oxford and Cambridge, high quality apprenticeships, training and employment.
Our enrichment programme is designed to provide all students with a range of experiences and opportunities outside of the curriculum, to help them to gain vital transferable skills and stand out, at Beacon and beyond.
