The Sixth Form Centre opened in September 2014 and offers a varied academic curriculum. This curriculum supports our students to follow a variety of pathways at university. Students follow a timetable that includes enrichment, tutoring and discrete intervention to ensure that they reach their potential.

The Seaford Head Sixth Form Centre has the advantage of being part of a successful 11-16 school, and at the same time benefiting from its own distinctive ethos and site.  

A wide choice of advanced (level 3) subjects which lead on to a full range of all university courses.

At Seaford Head Sixth Form we have a holistic approach to caring for our students with numerous avenues of support available for our sixth formers. 

Students have access to a dedicated Sixth Form Student Services Officer for drop in as well as weekly appointments.

Students have one hour each week in tutor time with a tutor who delivers a tailored tutor programme which includes topics such as managing stress, mental, physical and sexual health, money management, study skills, plans post 18, work experience as well as one-to-one mentoring with their tutor.  

Students may also be referred onto the school's Listening Service.

If students would like to talk about their plans post-18 with a careers advisor, appointments are available with our Level 6 Careers Advisor who can provide expert guidance regarding university choices, apprenticeships and employment. 

LGBTQ+ Safe Space 

We have a weekly safe space available to LGBTQ+ students with a member of staff where they can meet likeminded people, discuss current affairs and popular culture and access support. 

Our aim as a sixth form provider is to deliver a comprehensive curriculum that supports and guides our students and will lead them on their chosen pathway, whether it be: employment and apprenticeships or future study at University.

Year 12 Work Experience

Seaford Head Sixth Form, ensures that our Y12 students complete a one week work experience, at the end of their first year studying at S6H. 

We work closely with employers to make sure students are linked to a relevant placement, individually tailored to suit their needs. High quality placements can bring a range of benefits and positive impacts and there is strong evidence to suggest that placements and work experience are extremely valuable to students, both in terms of their academic performance, personal development and future employment opportunities. 

Students gain increased understanding and awareness of the world of work, accelerated personal maturity and gain ‘softer’ skills such as time keeping, presentation and communication.

Enrichment

All students in the sixth form will have opportunities to choose enrichment activities for the duration of their studies. Activities can change each year but some of the options over the years have been:

UCAS

Whilst at Seaford Head Sixth Form, students will be provided with support on how to apply to university and complete the UCAS application process. Students can expect to:

• Be shown how to log on and navigate UCAS
• Be shown how to use the online course esearch tool, finding the right course for them from thousands of courses on offer
• Be prepared and guided on how to write a successful Personal Statement
• Have a tutor provide feedback on their personal statement and support with redrafting
• Be guided through the different stages of UCAS, including Extra, Adjustment and Clearing

As well as this, students will be given the opportunity to attend a local UCAS Exhibition

The 'Aspire' Programme

For our high achieving students, there is an opportunity to become part of our 'Aspire' programme. the aim of this programme is to raise the aspirations of those students wanting to apply to Oxbridge (Oxford and Cambridge University) and other Russell group universities, as well as introduce and develop their knowledge and understanding of complex topics, concepts and issues. As part of this programme, students will be:

• Provided with opportunities to engage in the Super-Curriculum
• Provided with opportunities to engage in debate on topical issues to enable them to develop communication skills and articulation
• Provided with the opportunity  to read and critique 'classic' films and books, as well as discuss questions arising from TED talks
• Encouraged to apply for University summer schools as well as attending specialist lectures at local universities
• Supported with admission interviews and admission tests
• Provided with the opportunity to visit Oxford University

Option Blocks

We have fixed option blocks so that students know at interview what subject combinations will fit. Students must pick 3 subjects from 3 different option blocks. It may be possible for a student to take 4 subjects, however this will need to be discussed at interview. There may be some flexibility with our option blocks so students that have identified clashes with their chosen subjects should contact us for further support.
