Technical Progression Programme

This course has been designed to prepare students for Level 2 study and is for students who:

• Missed the grade profile requirements for Level 2

• Despite meeting the entry requirements, would like a transition year to support them to achieve their best grades because they have had an interrupted education in Year 11 or have mental or physical health conditions that may impact on their ability to be successful at Level 2

• Have no GCSE qualifications

This one-year course will help you to develop skills and knowledge required to help you progress to studying at Level 2 and following that, progress to Level 3 or skills to enter employment. This course will provide you with a broad range of transferable skills and employability skills. You will also get the opportunity to choose a technical pathway of your choice to further support progression. As part of the course, you will study:

• An introduction to technical study course

• Maths, English, and Digital Skills to support progression to Level 2 study

• Introduction to a technical area of study which will give students an experience of their chosen area. The technical areas you can choose one technical area from are:

• Early Years and Health
• Sport and Uniformed Service
• Travel and Business
• Hospitality and Catering
• Hair and Barbering
• Beauty
• Digital and Media
• Animal Management and Science

You will mainly be assessed via coursework. There will be some exams.

Mainly 2’s & 1’s at GCSE or no GCSEs

What could I do next? Successful completion of the course could allow progression to a Level 2 course or employment.
