Course Details

The NCFE Certificate in Sport & Physical Activity (Personal Training) is suited to students who wish to continue their academic studies in a specialised educational area. The course provides a solid grounding for students wishing to enter the world of personal training, fitness instructing or sports therapy and its associated industries, either through progression to university or by entering employment. On completion of the Certificate you will discuss with your tutors whether you wish to continue onto the Diploma or to progress to employment or other courses in the area. In addition the course also offers the YMCA Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instruction. Units studied include: - Preparing for a Career in Sport & Physical Activity; Work Experience in Sport; Exercise, Health & Lifestyle; Fitness Testing; Instructing Physical Activity and Applied Strength & Conditioning. The NCFE program will use continuous assessments and practical examinations. You will be able to track your performance as you work towards the pass, merit and distinction grades. Methods of assessment will include: reports, presentations, practical demonstrations, fitness sessions, posters, leaflets, experiments, interviews and discussions. The YMCA Courses require you to be able to demonstrate planning, delivery and evaluation of safe gym and personal training sessions. The program is a combination of practical training and classroom theory sessions. Each lesson will provide you with assessment opportunities as you work to achieve your goals and targets. You will need to have an active passion in sport and fitness and your tutors will encourage you to discuss your own achievements as well as the issues in modern sport. During the course, there will be opportunities to achieve other qualifications in addition to your main NCFE program. These additional qualifications may include work skills, drug awareness, first-aid, sport-specific coaching badges, gym instructing and other sport-related qualifications. Please note - there may be an additional cost to these courses.

Entry requirements
