Application Instructions
You can only apply for one course type on an application.
Applying for A-Levels and/or V-Levels? You can choose to study three A-Levels or create a mixed programme combining A-Levels with other qualifications, including the new V-Levels. You will select the courses from a list of relevant subjects when you apply.
Applying for T-Levels? T-Levels are full-time courses that allow you to focus on one subject.
Applying for Vocational courses? Our technical and professional vocational courses are full-time programmes focusing on one subject. You can apply for up to two courses in the same application.
We accept applications to more than one campus; however once you have attended an interview session and received an offer from us, you will need to confirm your first-choice course and the campus you want to study at.
Course Summary
Join us for our Physics A-Level, where we'll discover how everything from elementary particles to solids function. You'll study the inner workings of mechanics, electrons, waves, photons and analyse the Newtonian world, all while applying theoretical knowledge and giving it a ‘real-life’ context.
Course Details
Over the duration of the course you will begin to understand that physics is critical to how everything in the world works. You will study in the inner workings on mechanics, paying particular attention to motion, forces, work and energy. You will understand electrons, waves and photons, and analyse the Newtonian world, all while applying theoretical knowledge and giving it a ‘real-life’ context. During the course you will study a range of topics including: * Mechanics and further mechanics * Electrical circuits * Electric and magnetic fields * Nuclear and particle physics * Waves and particle nature of light * Thermodynamics * Oscillations By the end of the course you will think like a true Physician and be fascinated by how things works and understand how Physics has underpinned recent technological developments that have revolutionised our world, such as mobile phones, the Internet and MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) scanning.
How will it be delivered and assessed?
Your progress will be regularly assessed by tests, and coursework, with regular feedback and guidance being offered for constant improvement.
Entry requirements
Our general entry criteria to study 3 A-Levels is: Minimum five GCSEs grade 4-9 with English Language or Maths at grade 5. For a mixed Level 3 programme the criteria are: Minimum five GCSEs grade 4-9 with English Language or Maths at grade 4. Subject specific entry criteria apply:A GCSE grade 5 in Maths, Combined Science 66 or Physics grade 6.
Your next steps...
Completion of this course may facilitate access onto degrees courses including Physics or Engineering. Alternatively, you could progress onto an apprenticeship or employment in laboratory-based roles. There will also be a number of career opportunities available to you including roles in medicine, engineering, and astrophysics.
