Course Summary

How did the universe begin? How do we know? What IS a quark, and does antimatter really exist?

If you are curious about the world around you and are keen to answer these questions then Physics is for you! It’s the most exciting subject there is, allowing you to really delve deeply into how and why things work. Yes, Einstein was a physicist, but did you know Dara O’ Briain was too – many of the world’s most interesting people share a passion for the subject.

Course Details

You will learn about particles and forces and the properties of materials. You’ll study the strange world of Quantum Physics and the rather more everyday ideas of electricity. You’ll have to work on your practical skills to pass the practical endorsement, and in Year 13 you’ll get to choose an option topic – will you do Astrophysics or Medical Physics? Maybe another one will take your fancy.

How will it be delivered and assessed?

We will give you regular feedback via marked assignments and will also make use of videos and presentations to enable you to learn outside of the classroom. We aim to develop you into independent and confident learners ready to go on to further study at university, or enter the world of work.

Entry requirements

GCSE Physics grade 6 and GCSE maths grade 6
