Entry Requirements: - If you wish to join the Weald of Kent Sixth Form you must have a minimum of a Grade 5 in English Language or English Literature and a Grade 5 in Mathematics. In addition, students also need to achieve an Average Point Score (APS) of 5.5 to be comprised of their best 8 GCSE results.

Course Summary
To give students an understanding of Sport and Exercise Science, covering the breadth of the subject (Anatomy and Physiology, Sport Psychology and Sport and Society) as well as a depth that allows them to effectively analyse the performance of themselves and others, planning for improvements and evaluating the impact of different techniques on sporting success.
Course Details
The course provides an academic and theoretical understanding of Physical Education and Sport.
There are three main theoretical concepts and topics in A Level PE.
The first is physiology, which includes applied anatomy and physiology, exercise physiology and biomechanics. The second component focuses on skill acquisition and sports psychology The third investigates socio-cultural issues in physical activity and sport.
How will it be delivered and assessed?
There are two written examination papers (70% weighting), a practical assessment in one activity where students can be assessed as either a player/performer, or a coach and an analysis and evaluation coursework module (30% weighting).
All written papers include: multiple-choice; short open and extended writing questions for each section.
You need to be currently training and competing in your sport regularly to complete the practical component of A Level Physical Education.
Entry requirements
For success in A Level PE, students should have achieved at least a Grade 6 in GCSE PE and must compete in sport at club level.
