Painting and Decorating Level 1 Diploma

You can only apply for one course type on an application.

Applying for A-Levels and/or V-Levels? You can choose to study three A-Levels or create a mixed programme combining A-Levels with other qualifications, including the new V-Levels. You will select the courses from a list of relevant subjects when you apply.

Applying for T-Levels? T-Levels are full-time courses that allow you to focus on one subject.

Applying for Vocational courses? Our technical and professional vocational courses are full-time programmes focusing on one subject. You can apply for up to two courses in the same application.

We accept applications to more than one campus; however once you have attended an interview session and received an offer from us, you will need to confirm your first-choice course and the campus you want to study at.

During this Level 1 course, you will learn how to prepare surfaces for decoration, apply paint by both brush and roller, produce specialist decorative finishes and hang foundation and plain wallpaper.

On this course you will gain the knowledge and skills to eventually become qualified within the painting and decorating trade. You will learn about safe working practices, building methods , techniques and building technology . You will learn how to prepare surfaces for decoration , apply paint by both brush and roller, produce specialist decorative finishes and hang foundation and plain wallpaper. You will learn how to erect and dismantle access equipment and working platforms . You will carry out all these tasks in our specialist painting and decorating workshop under expert tuition of our skilled lecturers .

You will be assessed throughout this course by a series of practical tasks in the workshop and end of unit tests.

You will need to demonstrate an ability to achieve Level 1 English and maths by the end of the course through an initial assessment.

Level 2 Diploma in Painting & Decorating from City and Guilds.
