Course Summary

Join us for Law A-Level as we give you a fascinating look at the world of law. Today’s budding lawyers are quick thinkers, can put forward a well-balanced argument, and have strong literacy skills. You will soon find out that there is so much more to law than merely solving crimes.

Course Details

Law is an increasingly dynamic and expanding topic that covers nearly every aspect of our day to day lives. Therefore, this two-year programme begins by looking at how our laws are made, who can make them, and how we enforce them. You will also study the law of tort, also known as civil wrongs, with the main focus being on negligence. Alongside this, you will learn about the basic elements of criminal law and focus on the specific requirements for a variety of offences against the person and property offences. In the second year, you have the choice to study contract law or human rights law, as well as further your understanding of the English Legal System. You will also look at different law concepts and analyse whether our legal system is moral but whether it can really achieve justice.

How will it be delivered and assessed?

At the end of the second year you will have to complete three written exams. These will formally decide your grade. You will be informally assessed every three weeks to ensure that you are on track to achieve at least your minimum target grade. Homework will form part of this informal assessment.

Entry requirements

Our general entry criteria to study 3 A-Levels is: Minimum five GCSEs grade 4-9 with English Language or Maths at grade 5. For a mixed Level 3 programme the criteria are: Minimum five GCSEs grade 4-9 with English Language or Maths at grade 4. Subject specific entry criteria apply:A GCSE grade 5 in English Language.
