Course Summary

Our Level 3 Health & Social Care course will give you the necessary knowledge, skills, and behaviours you need to work in the Health & Care sector. You will learn about the knowledge and understanding of practitioner roles and values set within contemporary sector-specific contexts. This course is worth 1 A-Level and you will be required to choose an additional 2 A-Levels alongside this course. Suitable A-Levels to study alongside this course (choice of 2); Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Business, English Literature, English Language, English Literature & Language, Maths, Further Math, Philosophy, Psychology and Sociology. Course Details

If you are interested in working with people and meeting their needs then health and social care may be the subject for you. You will need to be motivated, enthusiastic, self-disciplined and reliable. This course has been designed to allow learners to develop an understanding of the diverse and complex nature of the health and social care sector. As part of this course you will carry out independent research and investigate many of the issues affecting older people, children, health, and individuals with specific needs. You will be expected to undertake two separate periods of volunteering to enhance your understanding and give you opportunities to achieve higher grades.

How will it be delivered and assessed?

The Level 3 Applied Certificate/Diploma in Health and Social Care is assessed through a combination of one written examinations, set and marked by WJEC, and one centre-marked assignment per year.

Entry requirements

Our general entry criteria to study 3 A-Levels is: Minimum five GCSEs grade 4-9 with English Language or Maths at grade 5. For a mixed Level 3 programme the criteria are: Minimum five GCSEs grade 4-9 with English Language or Maths at grade 4. Subject specific entry criteria apply:
A GCSE grade 4 in English Language or Maths.
