Course Summary

THIS COURSE ENABLES LEARNERS TO STUDY FOR ONE A LEVEL EQUIVALENT IN HEALTH AND SOCIAL CARE. THE COURSE FOCUSES ON THE HEALTH, SOCIAL CARE AND EARLY YEAR’S SECTOR. IT REQUIRES LEARNERS TO LOOK AT THE ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF DIFFERENT PROFESSIONALS ACROSS THE SECTORS AND A CHANCE TO LOOK AT CURRENT ISSUES WITHIN SOCIETY. LEARNERS WILL DEVELOP AN UNDERSTANDING OF THE PRACTICAL, INTERPERSONAL AND THINKING SKILLS REQUIRED TO BE ABLE TO SUCCEED IN EMPLOYMENT AND HIGHER EDUCATION.

Unit 1: Human Lifespan and Development externally assessed (Exam)

Unit 2: Human Biology and Heath externally assessed (Exam)

Unit 3: Principles of Health and Social Care Practice internally assessed (Coursework)

Unit 5: Safe Environments in Health and Social Care internally assessed (Coursework)

How will it be delivered and assessed?

You will be assessed in a number of ways. It will require you to sit two exams over the two years and two pieces of coursework.

Entry requirements

5 GCSE’s grade 4 or above, including English and Science.
