Course Summary
Pearsons BTEC Level 3 National Extended Certificate in Health and Social Care equivalent to one A Level. Two year course developing skills and Knowledge in Health and Social Care.On completion students may go onto University or straight into employment. Vocationally focused course for students who wish to work in the Health or Social Care sectors. This ranges from careers in Nursing, Social Work, Paramedical professions, Occupational Therapy and Podiatry to name but a few. Both the Health and Social Care sectors being amongst the largest employers with hundreds of career paths to choose from. This course will develop important skills and knowledge required to be able to succeed in employment and Higher Education.
Course Details
How will I learn?
In Health and Social Care students can expect a learner centred approach where knowledge is applied to project based assessment. You will have a combination of taught and research based lessons on challenging topics that encourage debate and curiosity, the aim being to develop practical, interpersonal and thinking skills.
Four units will be taught over the two years. Three are mandatory and one is an optional unit. Two of which are externally assessed and two internally assessed. Topics covered such as Human Life Span Theory and Working in Health and Social Care. Optional units cover topics from Sociology, Psychology, Individual Needs and Physiological Disorders.
How will it be delivered and assessed?
Four units will be completed over two years. Three mandatory units one optional. Two externally assessed and two internally report based assessments.

GCSE Maths grade 4 and GCSE English Language grade 4
